The homeowner in Port Angeles needed more flat, usable space around their house. Our solution was to perform a large cut on the uphill side and construct a durable boulder wall. This not only stabilized the hillside but also created an attractive feature that enhances the property’s landscape.
The project took place during a period of heavy rain, which caused the soil to quickly turn into mud. Every load of dirt moved across the site added complexity to the build.
During excavation, we encountered an active spring flowing from the hillside. This created an unexpected challenge, with water threatening to pool and destabilize the area.
To address the spring, we implemented a drainage solution that redirected the water safely away from the worksite. This ensured the integrity of the boulder wall and kept the yard functional. Despite the wet conditions, the team successfully completed the project, delivering both stability and beauty for the homeowner.
